Chesapeake, VA – On 20 February 2025, Apogee Solutions was awarded a Navy contract to provide specialized suicide prevention training in Newport, Rhode Island, for Naval Officers attending the Surface Warfare Schools Command (SWSC) Department Head, Prospective Executive, and Commanding Officer courses.
Apogee Solutions will provide senior Naval Officers with the knowledge and skills to proactively navigate stress, support one another and respond appropriately in the event of a crisis. Senior Officers will be educated on suicide risk factors, warning signs, and how to intervene appropriately; promote actions to strengthen protective factors, practice self-care and foster supportive command climates, lethal means safety, post-vention, and resources available for support. Students will learn about proactive planning for crisis intervention, addressing the process for identification, referral, access to treatment, and follow-up procedures for personnel who are at imminent risk of suicide. This includes timely and appropriate support for Sailors experiencing a psychological health or suicidal crisis, as well as those affected by suicide (including junior Sailors and families).
